Summary
Baseball star Spencer Crews knows April can't stand him, yet his proposition of temporarily living together is the biggest curveball of his career . . .

Making a certain kind of video with my enemy (who happens to be everyone's favorite baseball player) was not my proudest moment, but I blame the alcohol for Spencer's smirk three seconds before our clothes ended up on the floor for our one-night mistake. He said he deleted the video, which is why I didn't expect the jerk to interrupt my date a few months later to break the news that we have a problem. His solution is to avoid the press by staying at his lake house to hide away and I stupidly agree.

The next thing I know, I have two tiny eyes staring at me.

Yep, I discover Spencer is a hot single dad to a cute little girl secret. And that's not the only twist, because the small town by the lake seems to bring us closer; all of us. Spencer and my arguments fizzle out, and our looks grow longer. We talk like it matters and study one another's bodies. It feels like we are in our own little world. And in the end, I'm not sure if it's Spencer or me who's trying to convince us we may just be worth the chance . . .

Contains mature themes.

What listeners say
Listeners praised the audiobook for its engaging enemies-to-lovers romance and well-developed characters. The narrative style and pacing were generally well-received, with many appreciating the humorous and steamy interactions between the protagonists. However, some listeners found the voice acting did not fully match the characters. Overall, the story itself was highlighted as compelling and emotionally satisfying.

Spencer is a professional baseball player and a single dad to his six-year-old daughter Hadley. Every time that Spencer and Abigail interact the sparks of antagonism ignite until it combusts into a steamy night together. When the videotaping of that night could be compromised, he arranges for Abigail to stay with him as if it is exposed it will be easier for both of them if they appear to be a couple. Abigail thinks she knows the type of man that Spencer is, but she is about to learn how wrong she is when she sees him with his daughter. Spending time together the chemistry between them reignites however secrets from the past and trust issues could destroy the new relationship they are building. The relationship that Abigail and Spencer shared is swoony and the relationship they had with Hadley is heartwarming as they find love where they least expect it. I did enjoy the performance of the narrators as they ensured that the banter between the characters was entertaining and humorous.

Worth the Chance is book two in the Lake Spark Series. This one is a steamy enemies to lovers romance, single dad with some closed proximity. Spencer and April are great together they have perfect banter and the steam is steamy. Spencer is a famous Baseball star with a secret. April loathe Spencer and has always stayed away. One night a video is made that snowballs into a pr nightmare. April has to put her trust in her number 1 enemy. I loved this closed proximity enemies to lovers. You know a book is gonna be good when you feel the distaste between two characters I ate it up. Spencers family members are everything mom is the best and so is that sweet child. When the secret is out my heart broke and it slowly healed. This was a great read and I will be going back for 1 and continue with 3.

A temptation that thrives on humor and scores major points with the heart. Worth the Chance brings the flavor.  With hints of spice and depth of emotion, Spencer and April are irresistible. Lyon pushes boundaries. Brenner and Clark turn heartwarming into swoonworthy fun.

Audiobook review: Narrated by TJ Clark and Louise Brenner 4 stars for story / 4.5 stars for narration Enemies to lovers Grumpy/grumpier Single dad Relationship of convenience Forced proximity Sports romance Spencer and April find themselves in a precarious situation when a his cloud gets hacked and video has the potential to be leaked. They are forced together for appearances and as a result, April finds out there’s a lot more about to the arrogant baseball player she loves to hate. My favorite part of this story is the snarky banter between the two and any scene that has Hadley in it. The narration aspect of this book was a lot of fun. As mentioned, there was a lot of banter between the MCs and it was real fun to experience it in audio. Louise Brenner did an amazing job bringing April characters to life. She also did a great job with the male and child voices. TJ Brenner was new to me and he also did a good job as Spencer. I do recommend speeding up the listening speed on this one to enhance the experience a bit.

I’m gonna be honest here, I didn’t enjoyed this audiobook so much. I found out the voices wasn’t fitting with both characters. But I really loved the story itself. I really like Evey Lyon's writing, the way she brings out the humor and sarcasm in her characters, just writing my review I'm smiling at all the banter I've read between April and Spencer. I loved the back-and-forth between them. The way they hate each other while trying to fight their attraction. It was steamy, funny, and I really loved their story. It's definitely a book to read because by the end of it, I felt really good. I recommend the book but not the audio.
