Summary
Another gripping serial killer thriller from the Queen of Scream. A new reign of terror has fallen on the unsuspecting residents of Cocoa Beach. They think their worst nightmare is the environmental catastrophe causing the thousands of dead fish in the river until the first body turns up among the dead fish. Young girls are being kidnapped. Behind these kidnappings stands a ghostly person who calls himself the Boxer. He stalks the girls and chats with them until he decides whom to pick up and sell. Mary Mills’ personal life is in chaos. She is trying to balance being a divorced mother and dealing with the presence of her ex-husband’s new girlfriend in her - and especially her son’s - life. Mary gets on the trail of the disappearing daughters, and when she finally thinks she has it all figured out, it becomes clear that nothing is what it seems. Before she knows it, she is the one who desperately needs the help from her old friends. Every bit as pulse-pounding as her other books You Can’t Hide, delivers further proof that Willow Rose is the most addictive mystery writer around. Scroll up and grab a copy today.

I received this as a free audiobook from audiobooks.com. This story has two timelines. 1970’s, and now…and I really did not get why we kept seeing these two timelines. Mary is a blogger/writer. She’s doing a story on why all the fish are dying in one particular area. She has a son, and an ex. She also has a huge list of friends! The town is having a get together to raise awareness for the dead fish…and during it, a Mom gets hit by a car, and her daughter, kidnapped. As Mary and her friends are looking into this she realizes that woman and their daughters are going missing at set intervals. What is going on? Then she begins to see patterns… I really did NOT get drawn into this book. I must have been halfway through before I even began to like it. In the end, I did get drawn in a bit. The timelines made sense. The characters were brutal though…. And I don’t like the fact that her son is still missing! 3 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ for me.

Another well-written mystery with enough twists and turns to keep me invested in listening to the story. The narrator did an amazing job and I enjoyed it from the start till the very end. I highly recommend it to everyone who likes suspenseful mysteries.
