Summary
From legendary storyteller and master of short fiction Stephen King comes an extraordinary new collection of twelve short stories, many never-before-published, and some of his best EVER.

“You like it darker? Fine, so do I,” writes Stephen King in the afterword to this magnificent new collection of twelve stories that delve into the darker part of life—both metaphorical and literal. King has, for half a century, been a master of the form, and these stories, about fate, mortality, luck, and the folds in reality where anything can happen, are as rich and riveting as his novels, both weighty in theme and a huge pleasure to read. King writes to feel “the exhilaration of leaving ordinary day-to-day life behind,” and in You Like It Darker, readers will feel that exhilaration too, again and again.

“Two Talented Bastids” explores the long-hidden secret of how the eponymous gentlemen got their skills. In “Danny Coughlin’s Bad Dream,” a brief and unprecedented psychic flash upends dozens of lives, Danny’s most catastrophically. In “Rattlesnakes,” a sequel to Cujo, a grieving widower travels to Florida for respite and instead receives an unexpected inheritance—with major strings attached. In “The Dreamers,” a taciturn Vietnam vet answers a job ad and learns that there are some corners of the universe best left unexplored. “The Answer Man” asks if prescience is good luck or bad and reminds us that a life marked by unbearable tragedy can still be meaningful.

King’s ability to surprise, amaze, and bring us both terror and solace remains unsurpassed. Each of these stories holds its own thrills, joys, and mysteries; each feels iconic. You like it darker? You got it.

I love King. There is little to not love here. I loved Holly. I loved Billy Summers. Mr King rarely disappoints me.

There are no words that can clearly express how captivating this book is. I finished this book in 1 day. Mr. King style of telling a story is awesome. I could give you spoilers alert or give you some insight into the book. But I won't, If you delved into any of Mr.King's books, you know what to expect. Enjoy

EXCELLENT,

Mr. King should retire at this point. His stories are very political now and not an ounce of horror.

Good stories. I love Stephen King and have a deep connection to him and his work. I however cannot stand when he reads his books. He has developed a nasal drone that drives me nearly insane. Also. If Will Patton could learn to say the word, “partner” it would be awesome. I can’t stand the way he says partner. “Pard ner!” That southern accent makes me almost want to dig my drums out. But the stories were good. Will the twins be back?

Love the usual narrators but I found this Stephen King collection really bland. The stories were at various lengths and I couldn’t get into them.

King has done it again. He has created stories that are all different and with characters you care about and want to know more about. The dialogue is magical. Having Will Patton read King’s word is always a special experience.

A couple of the stories were good, but most stories I couldn't wait to end. The narrator was very flat.

this is a good collection.for all you thinking the title means it's a collection of "darker" horror, it's not.some are great, some are not. it's a typical short story collection, and I'm thankful for that.Stephen only mentions Trump once.at least it isn't "Holly" , which was awful he seemed to apologize at the end for his lifelong flaw of not knowing how to end a book.Mr King is an awfully good character writer, but he should outline his novels, and have somewhere for those great characters to go.at least he must have heard some of the "Holly" criticism.
