Summary:

In the tradition of #Girlboss and Mindy Kaling's Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?-a funny, quirky, and inspiring memoir from online entertainment mogul, actress, and "queen of the geeks," Felicia Day, about her unusual upbringing, her rise to Internet-stardom, and embracing her individuality to find success in Hollywood. The Internet isn't all cat videos...almost. There's also Felicia Day-violinist, filmmaker, Internet entrepreneur, compulsive gamer, hoagie specialist, and former lonely homeschooled girl who overcame her isolated childhood to become the ruler of a new world...or at least the world of Internet-geek fame and Goodreads book clubs. Growing up in the south where she was homeschooled for hippie reasons, Felicia moved to Hollywood to pursue her dream of becoming an actress and was immediately typecast as a crazy cat-lady secretary. But Felicia's misadventures in Hollywood led her to produce her own web series, own her own production company, and become an instant Internet star. Felcia's short-ish life and her rags-to-riches rise to Internet fame launched her career as one of the most influential creators in new media. Now, Felicia's strange life is filled with thoughts on creativity, video games, and a dash of mild feminist activism-just like her memoir. Hilarious and inspirational, You're Never Weird On the Internet (Almost) is proof that everyone should embrace what makes them different and be brave enough to share it with the world, because anything is possible now-even for a digital misfit.

I absolutely enjoyed every second from the touching foreword to the last quirky word. Felicia is hilarious, extremely intelligent, and riveting. I love how she wasn't robotic in the reading of her book and put some character into it. ..much more enjoyable way to consume an audiobook. :)

Absolutely loved it! Felicia is quirky, incredibly intelligent, and inspiring. Once I started the book, I couldn't stop until I was done. It put me in a great mood and filled me with the hope of finding a little niche I belong in someday too!

I loved this book. I particularly enjoyed hearing Felicia do the narration of her own story. She was able to pull me in as though she was speaking to me personally. I only wish there were more! I'm going to have to binge watch everything she's done on YouTube next!

  • Karley Cottrell

I loved this book. I only knew her from Supernatural and was happy to hear of all her other work. I loved hearing the book as if it were a real story she was telling just to me (cause we're homies like that) If you like nerd stuff, or Supernatural, or stories of women in business you will be entertained by this book.

This was a very entertaining and relatable story. I got a lot of insight into Felicia Day's life and analyses. Having Felicia Day narrate the story made it even better and I felt as if she was sitting in front of me telling me her story.

Relatable, interesting, and funny. I caught myself laughing out loud quite often at her quirky commentary about her life. When I read memoirs usually I skip all the beginning childhood stuff to get to the part of their life I am familiar with. Not this time. I listened and was captivated the entire time as Felicia seamlessly moved through every phase of her life. It was cool. I dug it. Felicia Day speaks to my soul.

Great! Awesome! (How do I get to fifty characters when all I want to say is "5 Stars!)
