Eliam Kraiem received a playwriting degree from The California Institute of the Arts in 1996. From there, he went on to win the Fourth Freedom Playwriting Award along with a grant from the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival for his play Sixteen Wounded. Sixteen Wounded opened on Broadway April 15, 2004, starring two-time Tony winner Judd Hirsch, and directed by Tony winner Garry Hynes.
