Olga Grjasnowa was born in Baku, Azerbaijan. Her debut novel, Der Russe ist einer, der Birken liebt (All Russians Love Birch Trees), was awarded the Klaus-Michael Kühne Prize and the Anna Seghers Prize. She lives with her family in Berlin.
