WILLIAM FEAVER is an art critic and curator. He was the chief art critic for The Observer from 1975 to 1998, and he has curated exhibitions of the work of George Cruikshank, Frank Auerbach and Lucian Freud. In addition to the first volume of this biography, he is also the author of Frank Auerbach. He lives in London.
