Clare Whitfield is a UK based writer who has published three crime fiction novels: People of Abandoned Character, which won the Goldsboro Glass Bell Award in 2021 as well as being shortlisted for the CWA Debut Dagger in the same year; The Gone and The Forgotten, which published in 2022; and Poor Girls, which was shortlisted for the CWA Historical Dagger award in 2025. Clare was also a judge for the Writers & Artists Working-Class Writers’ Prize in 2024.
