W. David Marx is a long-time writer on culture based in Tokyo and the author of Ametora: How Japan Saved American Style (Basic Books, 2015). His work has appeared in The New Yorker (.com), Lapham’s Quarterly, The New Republic, VOX, and Popeye. Marx holds a B.A. in East Asian studies from Harvard College and an M.A. in Marketing and Consumer Behavior from Keio University.
