Together with his wife, Myrna, Bob Schlegel launched his first family business, a chain of fifteen high-end senior living centers in Texas. Later, in 1980, Bob and a partner launched Pavestone Company. The Schlegels sold both of those businesses and today are involved in various new enterprises and philanthropic endeavors.
