Magdalen King-Hall (1904-1971) was an English novelist, journalist, and children's fiction writer. Her novel Life and Death of the Wicked Lady Skelton was made into a film twice: in 1945 starring Margaret Lockwood and James Mason, and in 1983 starring Faye Dunaway and Alan Bates. Her first book, The Diary of a Young Lady of Fashion 1764-1765, was written under the pen name Cleone Knox as a literary hoax. Although fictional, the book enthralled readers, and King-Hall went on to become a prolific historical fiction novelist.
