Simon Doughty served in the Life Guards from 1976 to 2009. He edits the Guards Magazine and contributes to the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography. He is the author of three books: The Guards Came Through: An Illustrated History of the Guards in the Great War (2016), Silent Landscape – Western Front (2016), and Silent Landscape – Gallipoli (2018), both with the photographer James Kerr.
