Richard Blanco was selected by President Obama to be the fifth inaugural poet in history. He followed in the footsteps of poets like Robert Frost and Maya Angelou. His poems have appeared in The Best American Poetry and Great American Prose Poems. A builder of cities as well as poems, he is a professional civil engineer. He currently resides in Bethel, Maine, as well as Miami, Florida.
