Sylvia A. Earle is a former NOAA chief scientist. She has led more than sixty expeditions as an oceanographer and explorer, authored 170 publications, and lectured in seventy countries. Among many other books to her credit, she is the author of Ocean: An Illustrated Atlas, with Linda K. Glover.
