Unabridged Audiobook
Interesting storytelling by choosing to write from each character's perspective. Every chapter is from one of the friends in the group and how they see a particular event. The story flows along without repeating and is an enjoyable way of looking at this group of friends' lives. They're all flawed and trying to navigate life. Some reviews point out different songs mentioned as playing in the background to give some flavor, which is cool. Unfortunately for me, none of the characters are particularly likeable. Makes the story a bit disconnected from the reader/listener. Fascinating writing style. Really good narration by the various people.
This is a story told from six different points of view. Spanning from their early twenties in college, to their early forties as adults that aren't yet old, but not so young anymore, either. Every personality type is represented among this group of friends. There's the bad-boy, the good-boy, the gay-boy. You have the rich-girl, the smart-girl, the annoying-girl. A lot happens in the span of twenty years when you're trying to figure out who you're meant to be in life. If you associate pop culture songs to periods of your life, like I do, I promise, you will not be disappointed! The casual mention of what song and artist is playing in the background was not lost on me, and much appreciated! You will read about trials and tribulations of drug use, alcohol addiction, marriages, breakups, becoming a parent, and even the sudden death of best friend who died too young. But I promise, the laughs along the way make it worth the ride!
This book was pretty boring. That being said, I did finish it in hopes it would get better. It is the story of a group of friends throughout their lives. Basic reality. I listen to escape. No escape here. Just a boring story.
Very unbelievable plot .
