Unabridged Audiobook
A great read! The narrator did an awesome job! I noticed that in many parts of the story it cut off. It sounded like someone pressed pause before the word was spoken in full. Many times I thought I lost the signal and the app stopped working. Then the narrator would continue on. It was a great story but hard to listen to.
Pretty boring plot, drags on forever without much thrill. Narrator made this book nore exciting than it really is. Worst of the King books that I have read.
Loved it, book moved so fast. Very intense. Before I even finished it I knew I would want to read again
It was ok I read better
Little letdown with the ending, but a good story overall
Classic
Only read if you want to seriously contemplate death and your reason for living. This was a good read and makes you think about the psychological aspect of being so close to death, whether that be a situation you created for yourself or an involuntary one.
Boring!!!!!!! I hung in there thinking it would get better. It did not. Same thing, over and over and over.
What a journey. Stephen King as Richard Bachmann really makes you feel what Garrity went through not only physically but mentally. This truly is Stephen King at his best 100% recommended.
i think i liked this a little better the first time through. ill put it this way, if youre a king fan youve obviously gotta hear this one. be warned though, its almost the same thing happening for the entire 10 hours with various memories or backstories sprinkled in. the ending can be a bit of a headscratcher as well for less seasoned king/bachman fans. so the story was more interesting with a confusing ending my first time, and a boring story with a mildly interesting ending the second time. do with that what you will.
A compelling story and a good listen
The book is amazing, I think one of King’s best.
I love this book! I’m watching the movie now
Storyline was Mehh.
amazing book! narrated well
The fact that I love Stephen King books so much makes this very difficult to rate so low. That being said, for all of the King novels I've read, this is by far the least interesting to me. The story starts out in typical King fashion. Interesting idea. Good characters and intriguing premise. The problem for me was, I kept waiting for more story development, which sadly, doesn't materialize. You get to know the characters more intently, yet, I never really felt anything for them individually or collectively. I believe this would've been a much better short story than an entire novel. But hey, what do I know...
The story was good but honestly I liked the movie better
interesting premise, gruesome turnout, but overall 3/5
Thr book itself is Richard Bachman at his finest! Its gritty and gory and incredibly on pace. As someone who does a lot of walking, I found my feet actively hurting by the end of the book. I loved how Bachman used the 3rd person moniker for his characters but showed the story from a 1st person POV. The Narration is incredible. You can feel the pain and horror in the characters voices and mind as he reads.
This book look was ok at best (only comparing to othe King novels). The movie was equally ok to disappointing.
Excellent story. When everything is stripped away family and friends matter most. Loved the movie and premise same but there are differences.
I wouldn't want to be one of the walkers!
Good read.
Not my favorite Stephen King audiobook.
Great book. Very fast paced. A definite reread
I really liked the narrator!
Considering King wrote this book as an undergraduate, I was really impressed. Often a bit wordy, however taking the location of the story into account, all you can do is overly describe details and situations to keep the reader interested. Which I was. I felt clostrophobic at times, which was a welcomed feeling as I've never experienced that from a book before. The only reason for the three star rating was the ending. So much build up only to be left with a self-diagnosed ending. All that said, I did enjoy it.
You’ll feel just as tired as the boys. Amazing voice work by Kirby, he was so good I thought I was running out of breath!
Nice dystopian concept and I really appreciated the nod to “The Lottery.” Overall a very entertaining book but as is common with King novels the ending was lacking and seemed like he just got tired of writing. Narration was excellent.
It was a great story. Ending was...
As my first book under King's "Bachman" stories, I didn't know what to expect. It is not your typical King book and should not be approached as such. I may give it another chance somewhere down the line now knowing the storytelling differences between King and his "Bachman" narrative. But off the first listen, it was just alright. The story seemed like it could have been wrapped up a lot quicker but its the tedious length of this book combined with the context of the story that make this one worth finishing. You feel like you are right there with the main character as they walk for their life. It's not a scary story, nor is it thrilling, but the story is good and the narration is fitting. If you read or listen to this book, try to forget King wrote it and you may get more enjoyment out of it than I did.
Pretty good through most of it but I found the ending to lacking.
was so excited for this book until stephen king literally spoiled the ending during his intro
Enjoyed The Bachman Books. This is just 1 of the good stories.
