Unabridged Audiobook
The story was good strong well paced The narrator of the doctor shields was irritating and took away from my enjoyment. Her over articulating every syllable became was overdone
This novel had an exciting, complex and twisting plot as the mysterious life of a clinical psychiatrist is revealed and explored by her research subject / patient who finds herself manipulated to the point of danger. Interesting character development and accuracy in factual revelation about the unethical practice of psychiatry by a woman with character adversities.
A great book!! The twists, turns ... so well done and kept me interested, wanting to listen to more and on the edge of my seat!! I truly enjoyed it and wished there was a sequel.
Exhilarating build up of intricate characters mad e it very hard to not finish the whole audio in one go.
It’s a bit cheesy. Something about it feels cliché. However, it still made for an entertaining listen. And it was so cheesy at times that it was funny, which was enjoyable. I would call the book decent. And it was a welcome escape from the day to day-just nothing amazing.
It was just okay
truly enjoyable wish it lasted longer!
Loved it!
Good, a bit predictable.
Dr Shields voice is a little aggravating but she is supposed to sound that way.
Well written, caught my attention and wasn’t what I expected.
I love the thought provoking narrative. Unique and keeps you on your toes. A bit over descriptive but gets very good at the end.
Couldn’t wait to hear the next twist in the story. Thought the narrator did a great job. Captured the characters personalities. Have recommended this audiobook to friends. Would make a good movie too.
Great listen - was hard to "put down" great plots twists
The motivations of the characters was a little fuzzy for me. I had to re-listen to the last 3 hours of the book twice in order to really figure out what happened and I'm still not sure I get it. The character perspectives change with the chapters and there's never any sense of who the characters truly are and why they are motivated as they are... other than generic "motivated by money" or "motivated by jealousy." The anxiety of the protagonist reads more as paranoia than anything else and I had a hard time engaging with her, or routing for her success. For a thriller, it's entry-level good.
This was awesome i couldn’t stop listening!
Drew the listener in, suspenseful....couldn't stop listening!
Even better than The Wife Between Us. Predictable but good listen.
Thrilling!
A good book with twist and turns that keep you engaged in the story.
This book had me hooked from the very start.
Really good story. Twists and turns. I enjoyed the back and forth and thought the tone of the narration of Dr Shields character, although many criticized, was done deliberately and helped the story so well. I could have used a little more mystery but I really enjoyed listening to this book!
A little confusing on the end
Absolutely off the wall
Couldn’t wait to hear what would happen next! Great suspense and fully developed characters. I’ll read all of her other books.
Had a hard time pausing it once it started. Good story, also good narration
Good listen. Kept me thinking
very good listen but ending isn't believable
The storyline was riveting and suspenseful. The narration perfectly constructs the psychological portraits of each character. The even keeled, deliberate, and disassociated tone of Dr. Shields' character was a chilling contrast to that of Jenn. Dr. Shields is always presented to the reader in present tense, through which she becomes chilling and intimidating. While a wonderfully suspenseful thriller, the book forces the reader to think carefully into a number of pointed moral questions.
Love this book. Unlike other reviewers, I did not think the narration was hard to follow. I loved the characters and story line. Highly recommend.
Decent. It's worth finishing, but not suggesting.
such a good listen. kind of confusing at first, but definitely worth the time.
I enjoyed the twists and turns of this book. It’s is crazy the hold some people can have on others. Physiological!
I loved “The Wife Between Us” so I thought I’d love “the Anonymous Girl” however, not so much. It is so hard to follow and it’s way to hard to try to figure out who is narrating from chapter to chapter, the narrator or the one who the story is about. Not quite halfway through and I couldn’t get into it.
I really liked the book. The changes and what you learn throughout the book are great. The narrator of dr. Shields is a little irritating, but it fits with the character, I think.
This book starts out very slow, but keep going and it will be interesting. It's a little confusing at times, and I felt like they glossed over the end. But it's an easy read!
This book pulled me in and I wanted to know what would happen next.
Easy to listen to! Never a boring moment!
I thought the book was extremely slow paced and incredibly predictable. It took forever to get going, but even wants the story got mildly interesting, I could’ve walked away at any time and not thought twice about it.
Read this book because I really enjoyed The Wife Between Us, and this one was just as good! Loved all of the twists to the story.
Pretty easy read. Lost me at times but like it
I didn't know where the plot was going at the beginning, so I almost gave up on the book. About a quarter of the way through the book you are finally let in on the plot. After that it kept my interest pretty well. The author did a good job writing the events from the view of the two main characters. There are two narrators too, which added to the enjoyment, since the two characters were so different. I will definitely try more books by this author! The only negative is that some of the misdirection by the author was a bit obvious, but that only took a little from the overall story.
The book was good! Kept me guessing quite a bit. What I really liked was the narrator changing her voice for each character. The book is written in such a way that it would have been difficult to follow without that.
Loved it! I was nervous about this book as I enjoyed their previous book The Wife Between Us and had very high expectations. This one didn’t disappoint. Full of totally unexpected twists. I devoured it.
Loved this story and the narrator was a perfect match.
Amazing book! I strongly recommend it. It will keep you guessing until the very end!
Great book
I really liked this book. Having 2 different narrators was perfect and made the book just that more interesting.
Basic plot, hard to believe characters, but I especially hated the narration. So forced when it came to the male voices and the psychiatrist. I can't believe this book has so many good ratings.
I love this wow
Abit slow at the beginning and at times narrator was even hypnotic in her voice, but then the story is revealed and I could not wait to see how it ended!
This book was so exciting and intense!! I loved it and can’t wait for their next book!
Very good psychological thriller with interesting twists and turns. Kept me guessing and making me turn the page to find out what was coming next.
Great book and narration!
I was hooked on this book. Barely put it down. I loved the different narration of each of the two main characters. Can’t wait for Sarah’s next book!! G. Pastorius
A great story. Well narrated too.
I really enjoyed this book. The duo narrating made for an interesting perspective from both of the main characters. I couldn’t wait to find out what happened next. The overall storyline grabbed my attention immediately (which does not always happen). Although the ending I could have predicted early on, no dramatic twist like the summary/reviews claimed. Both narrator’s voices went along with my mental picture of what the characters should sound like. My overall thoughts...yes I would recommend this book.
Could not put it down! Great narrator, Was on the edge of my seat for ending
