Unabridged Audiobook
Went into to this one with high hopes and it fell short for me. I really disliked the main characters, which I do attribute to good writing, but the story was a bit of a let down and I have many unanswered questions. I wonder if I would've liked it more if it were the narrator were different?
Didn’t live up to the hype
Intriguing and inventive, but left any deeper reflection or growth on the table
I very much enjoyed the reader, but I overall the book is okay. I liked listening to it, and I was never bored. I listened to Natalie's thoughts with the same eagerness as a teenager looking for gossip. My main issue is that I don't feel the book had anything to say. Natalie has extreme viewpoints, and there are consequences for them. I wish the book explored more of how she came to have these beliefs and why she feels the need to continue holding to them despite other people in her life letting go.
Fantastic Read!
Lots of twists and turns! Influencers pay attention.
Excelent
This author is a very angry woman
Loved the story line and the creative writing style on how the story unfolds.
It was great. Love an unreliable narrator.
I had mixed feelings about the story. When did anywayS become proper? Everytime a character used the word I cringed!
Timing is off. She never had access to a fast car? What year did she begin at the place near desert ? Book was fun to read and interesting to know how much money influencers actually make. I find that kind of a fancy why he makes so much money maybe I’ll become one! Good book.
It’s been a good long time since I’ve read something this original and compelling. Complicated characters, great narrator, and a twist I didn’t predict?? Yes please!
Loved the writing. The imagery was very interesting. However, the book lost me and I didn’t like the main characters. I had more questions than answers when it was all said and done.
I flew through this audiobook, it was such a fun listen. The story is dynamic and keeps you moving, and peeling back the layers of each character through the narrator’s eyes offers a scary yet unique perspective. So many different feelings came up, from disgust to pity to anger and sadness— I found it hauntingly mesmerizing.
I overall did not like this book. It was interesting enough to keep me reading until the end, but there's no growth and no redeeming qualities in any of the characters, and the main character's over-the-top hatefulness of EVERYONE is exhausting to read. I was surprised to learn that the author doesn't have children and doesn't have a full understanding of trad-wife culture beyond scrolling Ballerina Farm's account, which comes through in her writing. If you're looking for fanfiction about Ballerina Farm with a weird Ruby Franke twist at the end, this book is for you. If you're looking for a book about a trad wife influencer that goes back to 1855, and learns some life lessons, this isn't that book, not even close.
