If you are looking for a book written from a Sapphic POV, with real, diverse, and relatable characters, necromancy, and swordplay, this is the book for you! It is science fiction written like fantasy, with an interesting magic system, and notes of mystery. Gideon is a funny, imperfect, and lovable protagonist who introduces you to the wold of The Locked Tomb with lots of gay panic and bad puns. And her love-hate relationship with the other central character, Harrow, is engaging with plenty of chemistry. Moira Quirk does an incredible job bringing the characters to life, using a range of affects and accents that make each character feel unique and real.

Great book, even if the main character is insufferable, but the world and story make it worth it. also the narrator is top notch, finding a unique voice and style for every character and bringing it all to life.

Book was terrible and boring. Kept waiting for the pay off and it never came. 3/4 through the boom I was wondering why I wasn’t invested in the book yet and I realised that not one character was likeable. They were all annoying and had no redeeming qualities. Couldn’t connect to the story. The narrator was good but the narration hammered home just how annoying the characters were.

This is by far my favorite book ever, and one of the main reasons I'm still here. go loud

I thought this was a great book. Well written. Original concepts. Cheeky/grumpy main character that stays with you.

I'd read the book before I listened to it, and while it is extreordinary and exciting, Moira Quirk's narration gives a whole new depth to it. Compelling, upsetting and utterly unique, Gideon the Ninth is not a book to be taken lightly, possibly not for the faint of heart, but definitely for you if you're looking for something darkly special.

I didn't know what to expect when I picked up this book but oh my word did it blow my mind and surprise me. I can understand how most people can't seem to label this book cause it honestly destroys what you think it is overall every couple of chapters and the ending?? My heart....Can't wait to start Harrow!!

The main character is grating, her dialogue is incredibly juvenile. The supporting characters are far more interesting with the book improving as you move through their stories. The books saving grace is the world building, brought to life by the narrator, her skill and energy is brilliant.

I liked the book. Some parts were a little slow and the main plot was pretty predictable, but still enjoyable.

I love Moira Quirk as a narrator, and I generally enjoyed this book. I had some trouble following the plot, but it may make sense after I listen to it again.

this book was excellent. i wasnt sure at first but the naration is perfect and Gideon is now one of my favorite characters ive had the pleasure of knowing through this mystery/dark/descriptive all around good time of a book.
