Unabridged Audiobook
This is the worst f**king book and the most disgusting narrator I’ve ever listened to. Basically a voyeuristic alcoholic unhinged nosy as f**k bitch that drinks all day and night and watches her neighbors with binoculars. Literally every chance the author gets, they insert some stupid quip about binge drinking, being drunk, alcohol, and the character just not giving a shit about it. Painful to listen to both because the plot sucks a** and because the narrator has the most nasally, gruff, tinny sound to it. F**k this book and everything about it. -1/10
The narrator was not a good cast for this story. And the story itself took such a weird turn 2/3 of the way in, I almost stopped listening at that point. I hate writing bad reviews, but this one was at the bottom of the barrel.
Story was a bit much…. Reader made it difficult to continue but speeding up the reading helped a bit.
That narrator. I’m sorry but no… and i love a good supernatural twist so I loved the story
Riley is the BEST at the super natural horror. You will not guess what’s coming, but you don’t feel jaded by “I couldn’t have possibly guessed this” because it’s too weird in the BEST WAY! Love love love!
Should have read the reviews!
Plot twists made it an interesting story. I liked the reader.
I agree with previous reviews. Quite a bizarre story and not necessarily in a good way. The narrator did sound like a 60 or 70 year old, so it was difficult to picture the main character.
Weirdest book I have ever read. Not in a good way.
The narrator’s voice made the character sound like she was in her 50s, not 30s.
The narration was hard to listen to at times. Lacking voice inflection. The story line dragged on for the first 8 hours. There was a lot of repeating. Witten or audio, it would go smoother with less repeating and it would have less confusion if it didn't bounce back so much. Plus there is a twist in the plot, but it's so out of character and seems like a new book all together with different characters. Just not logical.
The book was well written with lots of plot twists. Occasionally too slow and predictable in places but generally enjoyable. The narrator was very hard for me to get past. The voice did not match the character, the oration was clunky and often felt like little effort was used.
This could have been a great suspense read had the author chose to not drift into the last quarter and cause readers to smack ourselves on the head. It became boring and ludicrous.
The book had enough going for it to keep your interest peaked, but the last 25% of the book was written very poorly. The conclusion ended up being absolutely stupid.. it was boring. Author tried to cram too much information in it and it was bizarre.
Riley Sager is generally an enjoyable, decent author, but this book is the exception. It is too fanciful for the genre, maybe. The narrator’s voice is also confusing and grating at times. I was excited for months for this release, so I’m genuinely disappointed enough to write my first review.
This has to be one of the most ridiculous books I’ve listened to. I wasted a credit on this.
This book started out good then turned weird. One character ended up trapped in another persons body. This is where I lost interest. I am not a fan of fantasy fiction. If you are, you may enjoy it.
