In this generation-defining self-help guide, a superstar blogger cuts through the crap to show us how to stop trying to be ''positive'' all the time so that we can truly become better, happier people.

For decades, we’ve been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. ''F**k positivity,'' Mark Manson says. ''Let’s be honest, shit is f**ked and we have to live with it.'' In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn’t sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is—a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k is his antidote to the coddling, let’s-all-feel-good mindset that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

Manson makes the argument, backed both by academic research and well-timed poop jokes, that improving our lives hinges not on our ability to turn lemons into lemonade, but on learning to stomach lemons better. Human beings are flawed and limited—''not everybody can be extraordinary, there are winners and losers in society, and some of it is not fair or your fault.'' Manson advises us to get to know our limitations and accept them. Once we embrace our fears, faults, and uncertainties, once we stop running and avoiding and start confronting painful truths, we can begin to find the courage, perseverance, honesty, responsibility, curiosity, and forgiveness we seek.

There are only so many things we can give a f**k about so we need to figure out which ones really matter, Manson makes clear. While money is nice, caring about what you do with your life is better, because true wealth is about experience. A much-needed grab-you-by-the-shoulders-and-look-you-in-the-eye moment of real-talk, filled with entertaining stories and profane, ruthless humor, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is a refreshing slap for a generation to help them lead contented, grounded lives.

Don't let the title throw you off. Mr. Manson offers excellent insights into a great way to approach life and work. It's certainly warranted a second listen. Highly recommended!

Snore. Advice: Read all reviews (good and bad) before committing to this book. People either LOVED it with a 5 star rating, or hated it and rated it as a 1 star. Depends on the personality. My thoughts on my 1 star rating: The F word is way overused (it’s in nearly every single sentence) The topic was super boring right outta the gate with no depth. I can’t wait to read something better and cleanse my brain of this useless information.

Profile Avatar Lana E Mar 2018

What a refreshing read. This book cuts to the chase and says exactly what people need to hear.

Profile Avatar Colin C. Aug 2018

This is very much style (and a super promising title) over substance. It may carry 15 mins of core wisdoms, ruthlessly drawn out with anecdotal stories ... Stories that failed to connect me to the author in any way and that and led me to the conclusion that they might well be a life-long narcissist (of one kind or another). Readers of self help-books might easily be dismissed as being unreliable, skewed, or perhaps over-needy. But pseudo wisdom has a certain unmistakable smell and this is a pungent read ...

Profile Avatar Michael K. Oct 2020

I thought this was a horrible book. Turned it off.

Profile Avatar yessenia r Nov 2017

by fair the greatest book to keep a open mind !! i love it

Profile Avatar Anonymous Nov 2020

I had to stop listening because I felt like I was listening to some random jock at a bar improvise a lecture on life lessons as opposed to someone with intelligence, wisdom, and compassion speaking. Yes, it's obvious that anyone can write a self-help book, but I wouldn't recommend this one. Much preferred Gary Bishop's "Unf*ck Yourself."

Profile Avatar Anonymous Nov 2018

Witty, engaging, funny, surprisingly profound. 10/10 will be recommending this book to family and friends alike. Frankly, I think this should be required reading for everyone, especially in today's sociopolitical environment.

Profile Avatar Emily R. Jan 2021

Offers a harsh but accurate perspective that I think many need to hear. Including myself.

Profile Avatar Gilbert L. Apr 2020

Serious unfiltered truth about being accountable , taking back the load of life and making the most with what you got without deflecting excuses ! Love it !

Profile Avatar Botond B. May 2018

Very well written and practical book, it gives you a sober view on what we call 'positivity literature' nowadays. Also, it points out the need of negative events in your life, it's fundamential part of our life and also success we wish for.

Profile Avatar Robin P Mar 2018

Fantastic, refreshing!

Profile Avatar Helen B. Jul 2023

I read this book in the past and enjoyed it, so decided to listen to it narrated by the author. It is full of simple but practical advise, and also made me laugh out loud in places. Highly recommend

Profile Avatar Francesca N. Feb 2021

Yes, as the title suggests, Fuck will be said often. Get over it and listen to the message. And, just do.

Profile Avatar Anonymous May 2020

I thought this audio book was a total waste of time and I doubt the narrator or the author gave a F*ck either!

Profile Avatar Donna F. Oct 2019

Well worth the listen and good for engaging teenage boys

Profile Avatar Anonymous May 2018

Very very boring... if you like the expression "Not giving a f***" then you'll love it. If however you want a bit more for your money or maybe just a little more interesting then don't bother. I'm baffled by the 5 star ratings.

Profile Avatar Walter F Feb 2018

If self help is your thing then it’s great read! I already don’t give a f#ck, so I didn’t learn too much, but enjoyed it non the less. Narration was awesome!

Profile Avatar Anonymous Jan 2023

I don’t agree with everything the author said. He has seen alot, but is also very young. He did raise a few good points though. I enjoyed this book alot. This is the first book ever I finished in one day, while being isolated with a positive RAT for coronavirus. I had the time but my eyes were too tired to read due to the illness. Thanks to the narrator. I had never liked the idea of audiobooks. I had always preferred to read each line with my own eyes. But this experience has definitely changed my view on that. This narrator adds life to the book.

Profile Avatar Elizna Algera May 2020

Alot to think about, nice!

Profile Avatar Padraig D. Oct 2019

Great read. I am interested in metal health and positive pychology. This is both my profession and my academic background. And this book had supported much of the up to date research and more importantly a fun read

Profile Avatar Cathrine A Mar 2018

Brilliant book and very good narrating. Gets one thinking about things that would otherwise seem unimportant.

Profile Avatar Vincent Bielawa Mar 2021

great listen and a bit of a laugh along the way

Profile Avatar nicole Steenkamp Oct 2020

much of the same content as other self help books

Profile Avatar Ila S May 2017

Great book! Excellent narration! I highly recommend it.

Profile Avatar SidityReads Aug 2024

This book uses personal stories from the authors life and people he has researched to get across the point of “ mental freedom”. It is read and written from a males point of view. It was hard for me to connect as a female at first but once I started to understand the book I was reeled in. I would definitely recommend reading this book if you’re seeking peace mentally!

Profile Avatar Anonymous Aug 2023

Don't let the title throw you .. the word FUCK is used about every other word ...so the word 'FUCK' is used just to get the bottom thinkers to buys this .... which is obvious there are many!! ......

Profile Avatar Anna B. Jan 2023

Fun with pun intended...recommend. What I learned; rembember to look closely at yourself when you meet adversity because most of the time it you and your problem not others. So nothing new but an easy book to listen to and some might finally realize that it really is them and not anyone else who's problematic.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Feb 2021

Very interesting point of view

Profile Avatar Anonymous Oct 2020

Brilliant, honest read.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Feb 2020

Great book. Challenges our way of thinking and caring and the significance we give to the things we value a why. Actually a great and necessary read.

Profile Avatar Tsholo K. Oct 2019

I feel like I should be the sales person for this book, it’s so good I want to buy all and give away for free. And I totally believe the narrator did this book justice because I think the voice in our heads sometimes doesn’t sound as candid and free as the narrator of this book was...which drilled the message loud and clear into my heart and mind.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Sep 2019

This book is awesome. Yes, the author uses profanity but I found it to be vital to his point. Get ready to change your perspective.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Sep 2019

Thought provoking book!

Profile Avatar Margaret C. Aug 2019

I really enjoyed the book mostly because of the narrator. He is simply f**n awesome! Guess I could use that word for this book. Lol

Good book !

Profile Avatar LoliOwl Sep 2022

I’m not really enjoying the very frat boy-oriented failure examples, such as ‘you’ll never get to feel Jennifer Anniston’s tits’, with suggestions to ‘enjoy improving your golf swing’. These are things I will never give a fuck about. There are some interesting philosophical references sprinkled within a narrative that could be a transcript of a higher level conversation between high philosophy students at a party.

Profile Avatar Mario A. Jun 2022

An entertaining pile of half-truths, platitudes and correlations mistaken for causation. The pseudo-scientific shine makes it worse, if not downright dangerous. Entertaining though.

Rubbish. Hedonistic obvious sh*t dressed with language

Profile Avatar Jack Y. Feb 2025

Very interesting.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Feb 2025

it's one of the best books i ever read

Profile Avatar Anonymous Feb 2025

I thought the book was great. Good reading. And the concepts were a little tricky and had some views that were hard for me to understand. Didn’t make me feel very good or of much direct use to my life.

Profile Avatar Emma G. Feb 2025

I think the book has a lot of helpful thought processes and questions to ask yourself if you struggle with insecurities and self compassion, but the overall tone of the book just really isn't my style. It feels like a mix of the Wolf of Wall street and a college professor trying really hard to be cool by using curses and hypothetical scenarios to relate to his audience. I think there was a lot of really helpful info in the book but it could've been half as long if you took out all the unnecessary "f words". I'm not even opposed to cussing but this just felt really over the top and made me roll my eyes more than once.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Feb 2025

The word f*ck just resonates with me and the reader did a great job with that.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Feb 2025

this book have changed me completely....I was a person who always prioritized others even if not needed....but when I read this book it made my inner self strong....made my decision making power strong....n most importantly I learned whom to give attention

Profile Avatar Anonymous Jan 2025

white male self help

Profile Avatar Anonymous Jan 2025

Too much of the F word for my taste. My cousin loved this book, but it didn’t land the same way with me. She is in her 20s and I am in my 60s so maybe that’s the difference.

Profile Avatar Scott S. Dec 2024

I wouldn't call this an essential read. Mainly because many of these ideas are offered in other books without the need of flippant vulgarity. However, the author strikes me as authentic. I found him to be relatable enough to find my way to the end of the book. Not a first round pick, but I didn't curse the sky for delving into this.

Profile Avatar Jucy Kabelo Dec 2024

Profile Avatar Jessica J. Oct 2024

Too much swearing. Got so annoyed.

Profile Avatar Sandra M. Sep 2024

I think this book is right on 100% when it was suggested to me. I think it’s gonna be one of the best books I ever had the pleasure of reading and I beforehand give a thumbs up just for the raw honesty of how crap really is!

Profile Avatar Riley M. Aug 2024

While there were many insights, I felt like the book spent most of the time running in circles than getting to the point.

Profile Avatar Josh R. Aug 2024

Good Book

Profile Avatar Diego M. Jul 2024

Thought it was a great new perspective on self help. In a genre that’s become as popular as horror there’s an echo chamber that’s lead to no progress because everyone still needs these books, as I do. This one by Mark Manson is as original as its title, and definitely applicable if you’re open to it.

Profile Avatar Victoriya M. Jun 2024

This book made me laugh, think, and think again.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Jun 2024

First hour was great but then it was the same stuff over and over. Pretty vulgar for no reason at points.

Profile Avatar Ana M. May 2024

At the beginning I thought it was too negative but it was still catching and interesting, at the end I liked it, still not the most positive book of all but not bad at all

Profile Avatar Anonymous May 2024

Sometimes you just need someone to tell it like it is. Well narrated, easy to follow, must read guide to reducing the baggage we all carry when there really is no need to.

Profile Avatar Christiaan Engelbrecht May 2024

Good read. Although the swearing gets too much.

Profile Avatar mkkibera Apr 2024

I absolutely loved the book and I will definitely listen to it again!

Profile Avatar Terri Apr 2024

Very informative and very entertaining! The narrator was amazing in his ability to convey the true spirit of the author’s writing. This clever book brings the ‘average Joe’ a little closer to understanding the web of life!

Profile Avatar David Jakes Mar 2024

Enjoyed this book tremendously. I think he hits the nail on the head with taking a new look at life, for those that need to - I did. I am most definitely closer to “ the meaning of life” than I was before the read. I will be downloading his next book for sure.

Profile Avatar Umma lul Feb 2024

i thought that was a horrible book , am half way through trying to finish it but every idea is worst than the previous one ….

Profile Avatar Anonymous Jan 2024

It an enjoyable listen, and a worthy listen for those who struggle with insecurities or imposter syndrome. That said, his advice feels like an opinion with anecdotal examples. Nothing is based off research, so take advice with a grain of salty.

Profile Avatar Sahil Jan 2024

Highly recommended

Profile Avatar Elizabeth S. Jan 2024

This book was so full of privilege and mansplaining I couldn’t deal with it. Of course it’s easy for a man with no children or responsibilities other than himself to give less f’s. I get the premise of doing what you value and staying true to yourself over the opinion of others but the examples were so obtuse and unaware of the reality of the many real and tangible barriers that this man would never face. I couldn’t keep listening, bummed I invested a credit and any time on this. Not for me.

Profile Avatar Joshua C. Dec 2023

Great quick listen.

Profile Avatar Mark G. Dec 2023

Seems like a narcissist’s journal on realizations of his life tryingto teach narcissists. So it is not for me. I wanted to stopalready but i gave it a shot.it was not worth my time trying to get back to listening to audiobooks. Hopefully his audience would benefit. Just not my cup of tea.

Profile Avatar Heather S. Nov 2023

Up its own arse. Says fuck too many times to take seriously. Didn't finish.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Nov 2023

What a great book to help you understand a bit more of things happening in daily life. Definitely saw myself in a few things the author mentioned, gave me some insight on what to focus on as well.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Nov 2023

This book is over rated, repeated and regurgitation of other self help books. Lack scientific/psychological and or medical causes behind behaviour. It might help the beginners but if you have already read a book or two on self help, this might be boring for you.

Profile Avatar Lorena G. Nov 2023

I listened to it in two days… it is incredibly wise and funny. I’d recommend it to anyone who is trying to find a real purpose in life and is scared of what that might be.

Profile Avatar Helen K. Nov 2023

I did enjoy the book but it was very short and found myself wanting more information from the book. I learnt some important things and found I could relate to other facts.

Profile Avatar Desmond Oct 2023

Thoroughly enjoyable!

Profile Avatar Josee D. Sep 2023

The book I needed to hear!

Profile Avatar Troy McBroom Sep 2023

Beyond stupid. The entire book is him saying “stop caring but don’t stop caring because you don’t want to look like an ass and there’s no need to try for anything but if you don’t try hard enough you won’t go anywhere or do anything in life” like what? Also to prove his point he used school shootings as an example. Twice. He also claimed that rape is bad but it’s also the women’s responsibility to deal with the aftermath. Don’t listen. Terrible and a waste of time. A joke really.

Profile Avatar Don H. Sep 2023

Great book! I like Mark Manson's style. He tells it like it is. I am going to listen to this book again.

Profile Avatar Andy C 1976 Jul 2023

This was a great listen, some people have complained about the overuse of the F word; it’s used a lot in the first chapter, maybe for impact, but it does tend to tail off after that.. If one can learn to let go of stigma that one has built up in ones mind with this word. It provides a useful and thought provoking way of looking at things.. personally I like to broaden my horizon’s in all directions, and don’t let someones use of one word close me off to an insightful way off thinking about the world

Profile Avatar Maxim R Jun 2023

it's a great read!

Profile Avatar Anonymous Jun 2023

This book was really helpful to me because I just care alot what people think and I always try to be 'cool' like the people but this book taught me to not care at all.

Profile Avatar Nathan P. May 2023

Grounded wisdom for both existential and everyday problems. Highly recommend.

Profile Avatar Anonymous May 2023

As far as self help books go it's OK. As a race, our biggest problems are pride and greed. Both are difficult to recognize in all their forms and to control.

Profile Avatar Anonymous May 2023

Profile Avatar Gemma Tan Mar 2023

The ending was amazing, it really did just capture the whole book’s perspective. It was 100% worth the read will be re-reading this soon after I finish the book recommendations in the end chapters

Profile Avatar Anonymous Mar 2023

This is a refreshing read that encourages people to pay less attention on things that really don’t matter. He dug deep into the causes of these issues too.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Mar 2023

i don’t agree with some of the concepts talked about in the book but i believe that chapter 8 & 9 were really good.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Mar 2023

Great to hear someone saying what I’ve been thinking. Narrator is awesome. One of the best I’ve heard.

Profile Avatar Ashley K. Mar 2023

This was the dumbest crap I’ve ever heard. Do not waste your time or money.

Profile Avatar Kelly N. Mar 2023

I am not a softy but the overuse of the F-word early in the book is almost unbearable for someone who doesn't use it all the time. Once you get into the substance of the book the power of the content takes over and the language just blends into the landscape. I highly recommend this book for everyone who is tired of the BS excuse mentality and the degradation of common sense in society. Take control of your emotions, make better decisions and stop being selectively outraged at everything that doesn't go your way and learn the subtle art of not giving a F*ck!

Profile Avatar Anonymous Feb 2023

A self reflection, makes you look back at yourself ask why you do things the way you do, why you react to things the way you do. Makes you ask why you really care about what you always find yourself caring about. One you go through it, you realise life isn't as complicated as you've made it to be. You just do not have to give a f*ck about everything but rather pick what truly matters to you and give a f*ck about that. This was a true self-help book, it showed you a path to help yourself rather than try and throw buzz words at you.

Profile Avatar Frenchr M. Feb 2023

Don't let the title throw you off. Mr. Manson offers excellent insights into a great way to approach life and work. It's certainly warranted a second listen. Highly recommended! dfdg

Profile Avatar Heather T. Feb 2023

I would’ve given this book five enthusiastic stars had the author issued a warning that people who struggle with depression shouldn’t stand on the edges of cliffs as an antidote to their predicament. This is a recipe for tragedy. Every other idea I found useful and helpful. I wish this scene hadn’t been the last in the book.

Profile Avatar Jolien S. Feb 2023

You either love it or you leave it after only 5 pages.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Feb 2023

Really enjoyed this book on my commute. Made me laugh and nod my head in agreement a lot. Made me think about things and my reaction while realizing I wasn't alone in these thoughts. Narrator was great and made listening interesting.

Profile Avatar Brandon D. Jan 2023

Trash. Buddy clearly just got inspired to write a book after watching Fight Club

Profile Avatar Anonymous Jan 2023

Excellent read. Feel as though this book was written about me. Don't be alarmed by the title.

Profile Avatar Sylvia S. Jan 2023

The first part of the book follows a logic and as a self-improvement, what should I do with my life is rather interesting, Basically the premise is that we need to base our lives on our values, I agree with this and everything flows from this. The second part of the book seemed to be an add on, enlarged upon some of the content, even repeated some of the content, in the first part. Good to listen to while doing the ironing or going for a walk, and led to further reflection on values, can't be bad!

Profile Avatar Dana H. Jan 2023

Some valid information but lots of chit Chat. I enjoyed the rawness.

Profile Avatar Alicia Maree B. Nov 2022

I’m not a fan. I didn’t finish this book. I enjoy self help books but I feel this tries a little too hard. In saying that, I only read 1.5 chapters. I tried ti read it twice. Not for me.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Nov 2022

Waste of a credit. Do yourself a favor and read the reviews before you purchase this book. The F word is overused and it's completely distracting, but good news - I no longer give af about this book.

Profile Avatar Nasir R. Nov 2022

Love the the narrator style

Profile Avatar Kawthar S. Nov 2022

Loved it!!!

Profile Avatar Juan C. Nov 2022

I think the book, just as the subtitle suggests, gives you a different perspective and approach to life. It helps you see the world as it really is rather than what we’ve been taught in the current generation

Profile Avatar Linda B. Oct 2022

Beautiful! Perfectly harsh and brutally honest

Profile Avatar Jennifer C. Oct 2022

Terrible! The author thinks that just by constantly adding the word “fuck” his book is great. I’m not sure what was worse, his obsession with his ex, the ending or his constant fuck this fuck that.

Profile Avatar Macr95 Oct 2022

I liked it, is quick philosophy for a good life.

I read many of the other reviews and feel like most of the low reviews are ones that didn't get past the beginning. Its funny in the beginning then gets very deep and has some great ways of changing how you feel about things. I loved it and would highly recommend it, great ending!

Amazing boom that definitely gave me a new approach and views

Profile Avatar Anai1609 May 2022

I really enjoyed this book, it was easy to listen to, engaging and entertaining. It makes you think about what’s important in your life. The narrator was excellent, it felt like he was talking directly to you, it draws you to the content and holds up your attention.

I thought it was funny and filling.

Profile Avatar Brenda G. Apr 2022

Excellent from start to finish

Profile Avatar Chris S. Apr 2022

Actually really good? Was recommended to me but I didn't really listen after they said that it was a self help book. Saw it in the store, had a credit, gave it a try and I was pleasantly surprised. I learned something. The lesson is pretty simple when you get down to it but the author hammers the point home with multiple instances of reinforcement. Going for my second read now and decided to leave a review from the first read through. Good flow, narrator is A+. Recommended.

Profile Avatar Sarah L. Mar 2022

Book was lacking some but the main points are great and valid. Honestly the last 30 min are the best part of the entire thing. Worth a read.

Profile Avatar Thomas L. Mar 2022

Dumbest book I have read. This book is written by someone who hasn’t been through anything hard in his life and is just another wanna be influencer.

Profile Avatar Jay H. Mar 2022

Different way of looking at things but gets his point across. Don't listen if easily offended.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Feb 2022

Oh my goodness, this author is such a privileged POS - I want to punch him in the face. I'm sorry I wasted my money on this book. Don't you make the same mistake. It gets 1 star only because giving 0 stars was not an option.

Profile Avatar Micaela P. Feb 2022

Couldn’t really get into it.

I read this in hard copy a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed listening to Roger's narrative. Big fan of Mark Manson's work.

Real life, helpful was off thinking. Makes you laugh at yourself a bit. Helped me to stop being so hard on myself and others. Time to decide what is really important in my life and stop obsessing about things I can’t and should not be trying to control.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Oct 2021

At its core, the info in this book is very helpful. But the way it is written is for a much younger crowd. Many pop culture references and a lot of fluff in general. Narrator was insufferable.

Profile Avatar Benoît G. Oct 2021

Mind opening book, realizing the fucks you give are a ressource you can allocate wisely is a game changer.

Profile Avatar Sbruner27 Oct 2021

I liked it. Lots of cursing but if that doesn’t bother you, it gives you and interesting way to look at things. And that’s all any of these kind of books are about. Just different view points and this is most definitely a view point I would like to incorporate more.

Profile Avatar Scott W. Oct 2021

Narrated at a nice pace which allows note taking and contemplation. Listened to it multiple times and each time found the information more insightful. Definitely a recommend read.

Profile Avatar Uteh May 2021

Profile Avatar Laura S. Mar 2021

Profile Avatar Anonymous Mar 2021

Narrator's female voices were obnoxious. otherwise great!

Profile Avatar Tori R. Mar 2021

Reading this book made me feel like I was sitting in a bar talking to a drunk, middle aged white man telling me how he thinks I should live my life. There are many other self help books and programs that actually present evidence about why we should put these strategies in practice, how to actually do it and why it helps. It was also quite disgusting how the author describes a woman being obsessed with him and having the wrong priorities in life when she had had a traumatic brain injury and had likely suffered permanent brain damage. It was also frustrating how he discussed traveling the world as something that was not significant- clearly he is unaware of his privilege and how the vast majority of people lack many of the resources that allowed him to live that way. I am also not anti-swearing by any means, but saying "fuck" literally every other word at times is honestly distracting and takes away from the meaning of the book. If you need to swear constantly, you're probably not a very good writer. When reading self help books, I would highly suggest looking into the credentials of the author (for example, this author has no formal education in psychology, self help or otherwise). Additionally, the narrator making his voice more high pitched when imitating women was frustrating. Would NOT recommend this book. Spend your money on a book written by someone who actually knows what they're talking about.

Profile Avatar Justin Sandler Mar 2021

Profile Avatar Lillian Brown Mar 2021

this book is a good one. lofe is full of problems and choosing which problems to have makes a lot of things come into perspective.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Mar 2021

Profile Avatar Vic V. Mar 2021

Awesome book, really helps access how we look at ourselves.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Mar 2021

This book is amazing.

Profile Avatar Tatiana C. Jan 2021

The book was fairly superficial with plenty of cliches and banalities. Writing style is pretty condescending, but there were a few funny jokes- therefore the extra star. The narrator probably accurately portrayed the douchy-ness of the author. Misogyny detected as well, especially towards the last part of the book. There are better ways to spend your time, so skip this book

Profile Avatar Anonymous Nov 2020

Brilliant, poignant, thoughtful. Manson's words will slap you in the face with reality and humility, evoke deeper introspection, make you chuckle, and inspire you to stop getting in your own way.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Aug 2019

Not a big self-help book fan, in fact I straight up dislike self help books. But this one was at least worth a read. Manson calls the sugar-coated-fakery of North America as it is, a pile of crap. Of course, lot of people will not like it because they care too much about trivial stuff that other people do and say in everyday life. If you are the person who is offended by the amount of curse word used in this book, then this book is for you.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Jul 2019

Profile Avatar Levi K. Jun 2019

A book to make you think and question.

Profile Avatar Katie A. Jun 2019

I was finding myself caring SO much that it was killing me... And then I would break and give up entirely... it was a constant pendulum swing for me. This book is all about choosing the things to care passionately about, accepting that things will never be perfect and finding the beauty in pain. I tell at least one person a day about this book because it is changing the way I live. #LifeChanging!

Profile Avatar Sylvie T. Jun 2019

Profile Avatar David C. Mar 2019

Mark Manson’s The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is a realignment for your mind and soul. The book helps to think and prioritize what you should give a F*ck about and what you are not giving a f*ck about and does so in a meaningful and entertaining way. Read this book! Unless you don’t give a f*ck, then don’t.

Profile Avatar Terry S. Mar 2019

Does a good job at making you think although sometimes the author is just repeating the same principle.

Profile Avatar Lauren M. Feb 2019

Profile Avatar Gilbert S. Jan 2019

Listened to this book, while working out in the gym. It was very intriguing that had many statements worth memorizing and/or quoting. Introverts that find themselves in an endless cycle of self evaluating and feeling the onset of depression, this is a great book to put things in perspective. Highly recommended!

Profile Avatar Denny D. Dec 2018

Great perspective into our personal decision making. The last chapter can be a scary insight to what we should give a f*u k about in life. Narration was superb.

Profile Avatar Brandon B. Dec 2018

Now if only there was a way to get this message to my generation. There are barely any children that read books anymore. Shit I am almost out of high school, and the number of books I have ACTUALLY read is between 6-10... maybe not even that many. My point is that you should probably try to sell these insights to a television show to get people more around this idea. I'm only 17 and I am so sick and tired of the sappy sorry for myself bullshit that goes on around me in my daily life. PLEASE share this book to everyone you know. Make a difference. I see that the world isn't all rainbows and unicorns. Now only if my peers could see it as well, and didn't have everything handed to them as a kid, and only had to work for everything they have which is what I have done.

Profile Avatar Dan K. Oct 2018

It was a good book, I enjoyed 5 hour ride and managed to finish it in one night. That being said, I don't know if this changed my life because I didn't give any ****s in the first place. Narrator was on point and Mark Manson is a crazy bastard

The sense of superiority will never make you feel happy. That’s one of the valued quotations I’ve picked up as I listened to this audio piece. I would never want to be like an “entitled person”. I’m glad that I was able to ponder on it and the ways the book has suggested will definitely be valued

Profile Avatar Anonymous Jun 2018

There were some good takeaways and I actually was riveted by his ending story and I now recognize that giving a f***about everything means you (yourself) can’t possibly give a f*** about a lot of things successfully. I found that I kept getting annoyed by his f*ing storytelling and redundancy of his use of the word f*ing which, I guess was used as a literary tool. So it is somewhat f*ing good.

Profile Avatar Monica B. May 2018

I laughed while learning throughout this entire book. I've read WAY too many "self-help" books and I can say that this book, by far, is one of the most engaging and "fun" self-improvement / self-help books I've ever read. Thanks to this book, I have learned to embrace Disappointment Panda and accept his harsh but true words. I've been promoting this book to everyone I know and hope they read/listen to it because it has changed many of the ways I see and deal with things.

The only self help book that ever helped me understand not only how to feel better, but offered blunt advice on how to transform words into action. This is a life changing read. You’re missing out on everything your life can be by not listening to every. F*cking. Word. written by the author.

Profile Avatar Leonie S Oct 2017

I loved this book! It's a totally different self help book. Instead of telling you the exact plan of how to reach a certain goal ( which is of course also good). He MAKES you realize what is important and what not. Great humor I recommend this book.

Profile Avatar Tatiana S Oct 2017

Wonderful book! So spot on in so many areas! No fluff no bullshit. You can tell the narrator enjoyed what he was reading.

Profile Avatar Jeffrey Alan H Oct 2017

This book has been life-changing and life-sustaining in a concrete way in a tough time in my life. Mark has really figured out a lot and, along with the tough love, is a warmth and compassion that keep it together.

Profile Avatar Cristiana L Oct 2017

Mark remains one of my favourite bloggers and apparently writers. I loved the sarcastic and in-your-face way of presenting information that is extracted from neuropsychology, buddhism and his own experience. He has a way of distilling valuable information in a way that is totally digestible and catchy. I would love for him to continue writing because he is so relatable and this may inspitr future generations that resonate with this style.

Profile Avatar Andrew A Oct 2017

I enjoyed this book. I found it interesting and taught me how to act in certain situations in every day life. I’m not saying it’s changed my life, I just found it interesting and tried to introduce the subject matters in every day life. Unbelievably things that would normally annoy me were okay. I play poker at a reasonable level and I found that if I changed my way of thinking I could control my emotions during a game, for example if I’m in a position which I think is appropriate to bluff, it was up to me how I control my emotions not the game if that makes sense. All in all a good read and worth a download Andy x

Profile Avatar Amelia D Jul 2017

The 5 minute audio sample provided sounded really great!

Profile Avatar Barbaros D Jul 2017

Good points. Especially when you feel bad. Nothing is wrong with you. It's just the body telling you to do something about it and not to let it define you as boring or loser or whatever. And another one is about winning. You should want to win, but not let it define your success. I know sounds logical but he puts it in a better context..

Profile Avatar Mohit N Jul 2017

My first experience with an Audio Book. Once you get past the proliferation of the f*** word and after a more than ferrous sprinkling in the beginning, you will get past it. The book is with the five hours. The take away is simple, easy to implement and truth be told, not something that one wasn't aware of before. Where the audio book scores is by ensuring one is made aware, is conscious of and internalises these learnings resulting in a real change in behaviour, conduct and decision making. Hence, the rating - for the book and the narration.

Profile Avatar Quan L Jun 2017

As someone who practices the philosophy that this book preaches I can tell you it really works. This book captures the very essence of living life in a meaningful manner without allowing the b*****ds to get you down. If life is getting to you and you have yet to read Mark Manson's book well start now as it will give you an insight into where you're going wrong. Usually it is because you care what people think about you, your car, the way you dress and how you speak etc. Just F*** 'em and enjoy the day, tomorrow is promised to no one. Now stop pissing moaning and go get this book.

Narration was definitely great! Emphasis in the right parts and all, very clear and good pace. The book, I personally didn't agree in some points. I overall it's great and has a good heart. It kind OF seems LIKE a pessimistic message at first, but actually has a very positive tone! Don't be afraid to be alive! Great and also funny at the same time! Definitely worth the time invested!

Great book! I read (or listen to) a lot of self help books but the way this book is written is very easy to swallow but at the same time not coddling to the reader. It gives practical advise and not so practical advice in an always interesting manner. (The narrator is great too!)

Profile Avatar Burt Baguma Dec 2016

This book is so f*cked up it gets that part of you that you've known to always exist but always ignored and slaps it so hard, you feel the pain and f*cking wake up! Kidos mark!

A modern translation of great truths. I appreciated Madsen's angle on truth. This audiobook is refreshing...a breath of fresh air. Enjoy!!!
