Unabridged Audiobook
The book was wonderful, the narrator was not. This is the first audio book I would have enjoyed more if I had read it myself. The tone and inflection of the narrator was robotic. It sounded like a computer generated voice and not a real person. The only reason I listened to the entire book was because the story is so interesting.
At times, I wished that the author would get to the point. She seemed to go over and over the same information about a given character. However, I did think that all the personal details that she was able to come up with after interviewing families of the victims made the stories more poignant, and made the characters easier to relate to. I think this book is an important one, with very important topics from both a medical and a legal standpoint.
Decent book but very repetitive and the narrator was annoying to be quite honest could hear her swallowing and not fond of the voice
Loved the book, but the Narrator was terribly robotic. Could not get through it so I went to the library and read it physically. Worth the read!
Should be required reading, and force-fed to anyone doubting the importance of worker protections.
RIP to these young women that were deceived! Thank you for your fight and to their families for allowing the medical community learn from their loved ones deaths.
Informational!
Did not finish. enough said
I was wondering if this was going to be a bit boring, but it was so packed with information and the story of these girls' lives. They really were treated terribly and went through unbearable pain. This was an important part of history that many do not know anything about. It was a really good book!
Great book - Kate Moore is a meticulous researcher - and an important episode in our history that many people will not be familiar with. The narration leaves a lot to be desired, though.
Great book, narration a bit annoying at first but later it made more sense. The story/history was already so saddening and disturbing that a dryer documentary narration style was a good contrast to help me emotionally get through the book.
Interesting. Lots of names, dates, & sad stories. Good narration.
Amazing and saddening story
Fascinating book, well written and read
Narrator was horrible making the book terrible.
can't get past the narrator
At first the narrator really annoyed me and I didn’t know if I would be able to continue, but it got a lot better and I didn’t even notice the weird inflection of her voice after the first chapter. I really enjoyed how this book was written and the layout of the story. About halfway through it was just the same thing happening over and over from this to the next to the next group of girls that worked at the plant and it was starting to really depress me and I didn’t know when the repetition would end
I absolutely love this book. such an important part of women's work history.
narrator tone was sometimes condescending he
engaging all the way to the end.
A remarkable, albeit tragic story. I couldn't stop listening to the stories of all the women. There were times I felt so proud of their actions, and lots of tears for their circumstances. I'd definitely recommend this book.
Very good story. Narrator is robotic at first, then calms down a bit, or I just got used to her. Crazy to think how far we have come for worker rights.
Fabulous!! I found myself thinking about these young ladies during my day as I went about my business. I eagerly waited for a few free moments each day that I could listen to this story, the plight of the Radium Girls.
Very informative Getting to know the girls individually made it more personal. I think the author repeated some things to help remember who was who. I didn't have a problem with the narrator at all.
very well written
So interesting
Absolutely riveting. Not only a good read but really interesting part of our history. I had no idea...
A very interesting narrative. Keeps ones interest throughout,
Terribly distracting narrator got in the way of a decent read. Very unnatural cadencing and enunciation.
Amazing book. I never knew a lot of what the author talked about with the radium girls went through. it's really sad.
At first it took some getting used to the narrator. The book grew monotonous after a while. The story is amazing though and my heart went out to the poor women.
Horrifically fascinating book. It goes into great detail, and in some areas needs to get to the point, but overall a phenomenal story. Not a fan of the narrator, could constantly hear her swallowing and it got to be distracting.
