Unabridged Audiobook
I’m a huge fan and admirer of JFK and Jackie. I saw Caroline on a YouTube interview with David Letterman which was where I first heard about this book. I was in sixth grade on November 22, 1963. What happened that day has stuck with me ever since. I was on a field trip with my class to the Field museum in Chicago. The trip was cut short. The announcement was made and some of the students on the bus cheered at the news when I got home my mom and dad were in the basement watching the coverage. It was very rare for my dad to be home from work. My mom was in tears. My dad comforted her. When I first started listening to the book, I almost stopped because the audio quality was not very good. Yet the quality of the interviews in terms of information was priceless so I decided to stick with it. Jacqui’s private thoughts about all the people interacting with the administration were priceless to hear Arthur Schlessinger’s questioning was first rate these interviews and conversations are a treasure for any Kennedy fan and certainly any historian interested in this period of time. Despite JFK’s limited time in office, he accomplished so very much and certainly stood as a beacon for peace in the world. I’m very grateful to Caroline for making these available to us to listen to to ponder.
Must read for people who are interested in that piece of history
Very educational, open look at what was going on during that time in our American history. Too bad the quality of the recording (probably due to 1964 technology) is so poor. I did find the amount of air traffic to be quite a bit surprising. I love the sound of her voice.
