Unabridged Audiobook
Clay Travis does a great job of pinpointing the moment sports "went woke." It wasn't Caitlyn Jenner's ESPY nor was it Colin Kaepernick's inane kneeling protest, it was ESPN's coverage of 7th round draft pick Michael Sam on the third day of the draft. Sam was an average-talent linebacker who never played a down in the regular season in the NFL who was also gay and ESPN covered it as though he were the first pick of the draft. Travis chronicles the woke journey of sports from Sam to Jenner to Kaepernick to Lia Thomas and beyond and ties it to the political comeback of President Donald J. Trump and the failure of Kamala Harris and the low approval rating of the Democratic Party. I enjoy listening to audio books narrated by the author as the author knows "how" the book should be read. It's an easy and enlightening listen that most sports fans should enjoy. That being said, it's a bit frustrating to relive the some of the woke moments that should have never occurred.
