Unabridged Audiobook
Vivek’s idea that the American underdog story could be so easily morphed into what has become the essential victimhood story was groundbreaking. His idea to correct “societal injustice” with inheritance tax was less so. By the time a person inherits, they are in their 50s and 60s. Moreover, middle class workers realize the genetic odds are against their kid being a genius that makes billions. Instead they try to save and build wealth across multiple generations. A inheritance tax would just promote more irresponsible behavior, something we can not have at this point. Vivek doesn’t take on these arguments. Even so, Vivek’s ability to use a combination of common sense and academic thought is refreshing in the era of sound bites.
