Unabridged Audiobook
I thought this book was pretty good. It has some pacing issues that make it not as enjoyable. This book also lacks the romance angle that all the others in the series DO have. I would stay to stick with it if you have read the two books before it about Rafe's father Asher, and you will be rewarded when you finish the series with Deenie in The Reluctant Mage.
Wow !! And I don't mean that in a good way. Firstly I'd like to attempt to explain to the author that a novel should contain mostly narrative, a novel should be a "story" not a dialog script. Father arguing with wife, father arguing with son, father arguing with council, wife arguing with son, wife arguing with council... need I go on ...? because the author did. And the constant crying and vomitting, I am wonderring if perhaps the author has an eating dissorder. My biggest disstress is the blaitantly obvious "set-up" for the next book, a novel, regardless of the possibility for sequels, should be able to stand on it's own merrit, this one falls short.
